Add YouTube Blacklist Words to Your YouTube Channel

  1. Sign in to your YouTube channel.
  2. In the left flag menu, go to COMMUNITY > Community settings.
  3. In the Community settings page, move down to Blocked words.
  4. Copy the Blacklist words from the Blacklist text file, and paste them into the Blocked words box (shown below).
  5. At the top right of the YouTube comment settings page, click the Save button… Done!

Tip: Before adding the blacklist to your channel, we recommend reviewing the list and removing any word/phrase that you think might be used in your actual user comments on your channel, so you can remove it from the blacklist.

Create Your Custom Blacklist

Whenever you want to block certain words that you feel are inappropriate for your comments section (unwanted words, profane words, or spammy words), just add them after the blacklist words, exactly as in our list format, one word/phrase with comma-separated, so you can review before it is shown in the comments section.

From the above, you can see that you have started to create your own custom blacklist, make a copy, and keep it in a safe folder on your PC.

Block Specific Users from Leaving Comments

  1. Sign in to your YouTube channel.
  2. In the left flag menu, go to COMMUNITY > Community comments.
  3. On a comment left by the user which you want to hide, click the drop-down arrow next to the flag icon.
  4. Select Hide this user’s comments on this channel.
  5. In the Community settings page, move down to Hidden users (Exactly above Blocked words), and you will see that the new hidden user has been automatically listed in the hidden users’ list.

Please note that all hidden users’ comments and live chat messages won’t show up on your channel.

Approve Specific Users to Automatically Leave Comments

  1. Sign in to your YouTube channel.
  2. In the left flag menu, go to COMMUNITY > Community comments.
  3. On a comment left by the user which you want to hide, click the drop-down arrow next to the flag icon.
  4. Select Always approve comments from this user.
  5. In the Community settings page, move down to Approved users (Exactly above Hidden users), and you will see that the newly approved user has been automatically listed in the approved users’ list.

Please note that all the comments from the approved users will be shown on your channel even if their comments are selected to be held for approval.

Hold Comments with Links for Review

  1. Sign in to your YouTube channel.
  2. In the left flag menu, go to COMMUNITY > Community settings.
  3. In the Community settings page, move down to Block links, and tick the corresponding option.
  4. At the top right of the YouTube comment settings page, click the Save button… Done!

This will automatically hold any new comments that have links for review.

YouTube Moderators

You can select one or more of your users to be your YouTube Moderators. The moderator can manage your comments, review the comments that are held for review, and can moderate your live stream chat messages.

  1. Sign in to your YouTube channel.
  2. In the left flag menu, go to COMMUNITY > Community settings.
  3. In the Community settings page, go to Moderators.
  4. Paste the new moderator’s channel URL.
  5. At the top right of the YouTube comment settings page, click the Save button… Done!
