How to set up the bad words list on your Facebook Page

  1. Download the Facebook bad words list, unzip the file, and get the bad word list TXT file (Comma-Separated Text File).
  2. Go to your Facebook Page and find Settings > General then find Page Moderation and click Edit, a dialog box will appear.
  3. Copy the text file content (Block Words), paste it into the dialog box, and Save Changes. Done!

If you would like to block certain words that are not irrelevant to your page or brand or block any other words that you don’t like to appear on your page, you can easily include them after our comma-separated blocked words list, don’t forget to add a comma between words, typically like our comma-separated file. So by having your own Facebook block list, you can filter any and all the words you want.

Profanity Filter On Facebook

In addition to the page moderation block words, it is suggested to activate the Facebook profanity filter list by turning on the Facebook Profanity Filter for complete content moderation. The profanity filter list contains the most commonly reported words and phrases by the Facebook broader community to block offensive words (which is unknown). You may set the profanity filter on Facebook to Strong, Medium, or to None as you like. Facebook Page Moderation with our bad words list and Profanity Filter you will gain great control over your Page.

How to turn on the profanity filter on Facebook

Go to your Facebook page and find Settings > General then find Profanity Filter and click Edit.

  1. Select Medium or Strong.
  2. Click Save Changes. Done!

Note: Facebook does not provide the profanity filter list of words that will be used under each setting (Medium or Strong).
