How to resize your header by using "Paint"

Overview

We will show how to resize your headers by using Paint.
Paint is included in your Microsoft Windows, it is an easy image editing program, so you will not be in need to buy expensive programs such as PhotoShop or Fireworks.
You may use Gimp (Free Open Source), but it is more complicated than Paint.

How to resize your header by using Paint

In this tutorial, we will show you how you can use Paint to resize your header image

  1. Open Paint

  2. Open the header to edit in Paint:

Note: Many of the tools you use in Paint are found in the Ribbon, which is near the top of the Paint window. The following illustration shows the Ribbon and other parts of Paint.

  1. Use Resize button to resize your header:

  1. On the Home tab, in the Image group, click Resize .

  2. In the Resize and Skew dialog box, select the Maintain aspect ratio check box so that the resized header will have the same aspect ratio as the original.

  3. In the Resize area, click Pixels, and then enter a new width in the Horizontal box or new height in the Vertical box, and then click OK.
If the Maintain aspect ratio check box is selected, you only need to enter the horizontal value (width) or vertical value (height). The other box in the Resize area is updated automatically.
For example, if a header is 1024 x 300 pixels and you want to make the width 940 pixels size with the same aspect ratio, in the Resize area, with the Maintain aspect ratio check box selected, enter 940 in the Horizontal box. The new header size will be 940 x 275 pixels.

  1. Saving and using your header

When editing in Paint, you should save your work frequently so you don't accidentally lose it. Please also note that you have only one time "Redo" during each step.

  1. Click the Paint button , and then click Save.
  2. In the Save as type box, select the file format you want (JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP or other format).
  3. In the File name box, type a name, and then click Save.

Finally, add the header to your web page, and upload your page to your server.
